NOTE This guide assumes that you have already installed the Button Tray Utility for the Claris i5HD. If you have not installed it yet, please refer to our install guide.
This guide will show you how to set up the Button Tray Utility to always run as an administrator. This is necessary if your imaging software is also running as an administrator. You can identify programs running in admin mode by looking for an icon on the shortcut. Your imaging software may have been set up this way by your IT due to networking permission issues.
First, you will need to browse to the install location for the Button Tray Utility. This is typically found at the location below.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Button Tray Utility
Once you have found the install location, right-click the Button Tray Utility.exe file and click 'Properties'.
Once in the Properties menu, click on the Compatibility tab and click 'Change settings for all users' towards the bottom of the window.
Once we are in this menu, check the box next to 'Run this program as an administrator' then click Apply.
The Button Tray Utility will now always run as an administrator. In Windows, a program will not automatically start with these settings. Therefore, you will need to set up a shortcut on your desktop to manually launch the program whenever the computer is first turned on. To create this shortcut, right-click the Button Tray Utility.exe file, then click 'Create shortcut'. Simply copy the shortcut over to the desktop or somewhere easily accessible for anyone using the computer.
