If the capture button is not working, The capture service may need to be restarted.
To restart the capture service
- Open Run by pressing the Windows key and R.
- Type 'services.msc' and press Enter or click OK.
- In the Services window, find 'NET Service 1.02'.
- Start or restart the service by clicking the link to the left.
- Test the capture button.
To test the button
- Open Run by pressing the Windows key and R.
- Type 'joy.cpl' and press Enter or click OK.
- Within the Game Controllers window, you should see a 'NET Virtual Joystick', select it and click the 'Properties' button. If you do not see the 'NET Virtual Joystick' option, the drivers will need to be installed. Refer to our Claris i4D Installation guide for assistance with that.
- In the NET Virtual Joystick properties window you should see a series of 12 red circles. Try pressing the capture button on the camera and you should see the circle labeled 1 light up to a brighter red color. If you reach this step and only see one circle, please contact our support team at 714.532.6100 extension 2 or by email at support@sotaimaging.zendesk.com for support.
The attached batch file can be used to restart the capture service as well.
To install the batch file
- Download the batch file found at the bottom of this page.
- Move the batch file to C:/ or any other folder on the computer.
- Right-click the file and select Send to and then Desktop (create shortcut).
- A shortcut has now been created on the desktop. Right-click the shortcut and click Properties.
- In the Properties window click the 'Advanced' button.
- In the Advanced window, check the box next to 'Run as Administrator' and click okay.
- Whenever the capture button becomes unresponsive or slower than usual, double click the shortcut you've made on your desktop. This batch file performs the same action as restarting the capture service above.
Notes
There may be additional setup needed in your imaging software. Please refer to specific articles for the software.
Some software does not support joystick capture and will require an AutoHotKey script. Please contact support for software that requires AutoHotKey scripts. Some of the software includes, but is not limited to, Kodak Imaging, Schick CDR and Tigerview.
